As the Co-Founder and CEO of Twiga, Peter Njonjo leads our efforts to transform African retail, guiding the continued growth of Twiga into the future.
Prior to founding Twiga, Peter was President of the Coca-Cola West Africa business unit, previously working as the General Manager for their East Africa franchise. In addition to an MBA in Strategic Management and a degree in International Business Administration, Peter is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Yebeltal Getachew brings over 20 years of commercial and franchise leadership experience to his role as CEO of East Africa at Twiga, where he is responsible for promoting new business and growth in the region.
Before joining Twiga, he worked as the Managing Director and Vice President of Coca-Cola Nigeria, and as the Customer and Commercial Director of Coca-Cola West Africa. With a degree in International Business, YG completed the Executive Leadership Program at Harvard University and has received numerous awards and recognition for his work.
Enabling Twiga win in the marketplace through organization, culture, talent and capability, is Susan Kiama, the Chief People Officer at Twiga.
With over 24 years of experience in organisation, people and leadership, she is the Founder of Three Green Apples Consulting Limited and previously was the Chief Human Resource Officer for Safaricom, the Head of Human Resources for Citibank in Kenya and a Principal Consultant with Deloitte. Susan holds a BA in Business Administration and a Postgraduate Degree in Personnel Management, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) Kenya and the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) UK.
Caine Wanjau is the CTO at Twiga, ensuring that our technology backbone is strong and flexible to scale with our growth.
Prior to joining Twiga, he co-founded two companies: Flashcast, which provided live-streamed advertisements in public transport vehicles in Nairobi; and Faidika Technologies providing bespoke IT, ERP, and mobile solutions to corporates and NGOs. Caine graduated from Monash University in Australia with a degree in Computer Sciences and a diploma of Engineering.
Zuber Momoinat is Twiga’s CFO responsible for overseeing the financial stability and growth of the company.
Mr. Momoniat is a qualified chartered accountant with close to two decades of cognate practice. He holds a BCom (Honours) in Accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Zuber began his accounting career with PricewaterhouseCoopers ‘PwC’ in 2003 and later joined the then SABMiller Group working across different countries and units of finance for over 11 years.
Fuelling the next stage of growth and expansion at Twiga is our Chief Officer of Business Development and Innovation, Fiona Mungai.
Serving on various boards including the East Africa Venture Capital Association, she was previously the Founding Managing Director of Endeavor Kenya and served on the Endeavor Global Executive Committee. Fiona holds a Bachelor of Commerce-Finance Degree (Hons) and an MSc in Development Management (Political Economy) from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Felix Omamo is the Chief Commercial Officer at Twiga, focusing on the commercial development and sales growth of our business units.
Prior to joining Twiga, he worked at Suntory Beverages and Food (Lucozade and Ribena Brands) as a Commercial Capability Manager EA; and at East African Breweries Limited as a Sales Capability Manager. Felix holds an MBA From the University of Nairobi and Bachelor of Business Administration from Maseno University.
Our Chief Officer of Supply Chain Operations, Tim Broekhuizen, is responsible for developing and streamlining Twiga’s supply chain, improving efficiencies for our clients and vendors.
Previously, he worked as the Country Head of Supply Chain and Regional Supply Chain Manager for DKSH, the largest distributor in the APAC region. In addition, he was the Supply Chain Director for CMHL, the biggest retail chain in Myanmar. Tim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Operations and Supply Chain Excellence (MOS).
As the Chief Production Officer, Nicholas Ambanya is driving the development of large-scale food production systems at Twiga to fulfil African retail demand.
Before becoming a member of the Twiga team, he was the CEO of Magana Flowers Kenya, a floriculture company specializing in production and export of roses; and the Group CEO of Kijenge Animal Products, a farming and agro-processing company in Tanzania. With over 20 years of hands-on management and experience in the field of agribusiness, Nicholas also holds a degree in General Business Management and IT.
As Chief Agronomist of Twiga Foods, he is responsible for the development and management of the company’s operations in Kenya and is actively involved in the company’s new production expansion projects across the continent.
Mr Nicolau has been involved in fruit and horticultural projects for over 25 years. He has a strong background in general management and has successfully run large agricultural projects across the globe, operating under challenging environments with different cultures in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Daisy Liech is a highly experienced professional with a diverse background in investments, technology, and strategic planning. She currently serves as the Chief of Staff to the Group CEO of Twiga Foods, where she is responsible for coordinating the execution of the company’s strategic objectives.
Prior to her current role, Daisy was part of the financial planning and analysis team at Twiga Foods and has held various positions in the investment and technology industries, including fund setup for ARCH Emerging Capital Partners, a Private Equity background at Centum Investment Plc and a technology background from Naspers Ltd. Daisy holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics & Statistics and is a CFA Level II candidate.
Joram Kabach is the Chief of Staff to the East African CEO. His main role is supporting revenue and margin expansion initiatives of the Twiga Foods’ e-commerce business under the East African cluster.
Having started and spent his career life at Twiga Foods, he has extensive experience having done stints in commercial, warehousing, sourcing, and finance divisions in the business both at mid and senior leadership positions.
Key highlights from his vast strategy, analytics, and operations experience include set up and leading Twiga’s business intelligence unit, taking lead role in pivoting of sourcing and commercial operations to leaner and more scalable models amongst many other successful special projects.

Hein Pretorius helps to guide the Twiga board and ensure smooth corporate operations. He also serves as Non-Executive Director on the boards of Wehkamp (Netherlands) & Clarion Events. He continues to provide advisory services to PE & VC companies on projects within the digital economy. Hein has served as Executive Chairman of the Spil Games Group, Non-Executive Chairman of Pact Coffee (UK) and Seamless (Sweden), and held Non-Executive Director positions on the boards of Hepsiburada (Turkey), The PhotoBox Group (UK) & The Cloakroom (Netherlands).
Elom Lassey is currently the Regional Lead for Venture Capital (Anglophone Africa) at IFC. Elom has 18 years’ experience in investment and financial services spanning investment banking, private equity, and venture capital investing. His experience includes board and board observer roles supporting several companies in value creation. He holds a Global Executive MBA from INSEAD and a BSc in Economics from University College London.
Hayo Afman is the Portfolio Director and Co-CEO of DOB Equity. He is responsible for the portfolio performance and serves on the board of various portfolio companies. Previously, he spent ten years with Booz & Company where he specialized in strategy development in both the retail and energy industry. Hayo holds a Masters Degree in Financial Econometrics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and an MBA from Columbia Business School, New York.
Maurizio Caio is the Founder and Managing Partner of TLcom Capital LLP. At TLcom he has been focusing on mobile technologies and services, web enabled services and GDP verticals, broadband network infrastructure, and applications of ICT to SMEs since the firm’s foundation in 1999. Maurizio’s current board positions include companies in the mobile, broadband, digital media and silicon space in Europe, the US and Africa.
Jules Frebault is the Founder of Juven, a private investment firm investing in fast growing tech-enabled and consumer companies operating in Africa. Until recently, he was the Head of Africa – Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs. He represented Goldman Sachs on the board of several portfolio companies. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 2010, Jules worked for Cerberus Capital Management in their London office.
Pierre Fauvet is the Managing Director of Creadev Africa. Over the past 15 years, he has been supporting, advising and investing in innovative companies across Europe, West and East Africa. Pierre is a graduate of HEC Paris. He launched Creadev Africa in Nairobi in 2016 and is now focused on expanding its investment reach across the continent.
